A postdoctoral position in Plant Synthetic Biology is available in a new Systems Biology Research group in the Human Genetics Unit, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The selected candidate will join a new team of investigators to work on an industry funded project on genetic improvement of plants using a synthetic biology approach.
This position welcomes individuals with very strong experimental skills. The applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related fields with a strong background in plant genetics. Preference will be given to candidates with a relevant publication record and experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team are required. The successful candidate should have working knowledge in Genome engineering (e.g., site-specific gene stacking, targeted genome editing, artificial chromosome, etc.) and one or more of the following areas 1) molecular biology, 2) biochemistry, 3) molecular genetics, 4) bioinformatics, and 5) plant biology.
