1. National Bioethics Committee , National Science Foundation, Sri Lanka.

Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara served as a member of this committee which is the appex committee involved in formulating policy on issues relating to Bioethics.

2. National Thalassemia Council, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.

Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara is currently a member of this Council.

3. Committee formulating a Provisional Code of Practice for Assisted Reproductive Technologies. Sri
Lanka Medical Council - 2005


Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara was member of this committee.

4. National Science and Technology Commission, Sri Lanka - Study Group IX - A Policy on Biomedical Ethics

In March 2000 Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara made an appeal to the medical community to address ethical issues arising
out of the application of new genetic and assisted reproductive technologies in Sri Lanka in a guest lecture titled
'Genethics in Sri Lanka - The Slumbering Sentinels" at the Sri Lanka Medical Association's Annual Academic Session.
Following this appeal the National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) invited Prof. Jayasekara to set up
this study group to make recommendations to the commission. The other members of the study group were:
Dr. Vajira H. W. Dissanayake
Prof. Anoja Fernando - Professor of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna.
Dr. Deepika Udugama - Senior Lecturer in Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo.
Dr. R. Ajanthan - Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.
Dr. Lakshman Senanayake - Consultant Obstetrician, Castle Street Hospital for Women, Colombo.

The outcome of the delibrerations of this committee was the publication of NTSC-SG-09/03/01. New Genetics and
Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Sri Lanka, A Draft National Policy on Bioethics in 2003.

5.National Committee on Genetically Modified foods in Sri Lanka. Minister of Health, Sri Lanka. - 1999

Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara was the Chairperson of the committee which made a report with recommendations on this
issue for the Minister of Health.

6.National Conservation Strategy - 1985

Prof. Rohan W Jayasekara was a co-author of a sector paper titled : Conservation of Genetic Resources in Sri Lanka in
this report.
